Northside Baptist Church Snow Delay/Cancellation Policy

When a winter storm is forecasted to interfere with regularly scheduled services, Northside Baptist Church will exercise the following procedures:

  1. If the forecasted winter storm is designated as a Level 1 storm by the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, Northside Baptist Church will likely continue with regularly scheduled services but will implement a one-hour delay. For example, Sunday morning worship will begin at 11:00am instead of 10:00am, and Life Transformation Classes will be canceled. Church leadership will use discretion implementing the delay based on ODOT’s efficiency of clearing the roads. If most roads are not adequately plowed/cleared a minimum of two hours before regularly scheduled service times, church leadership will cancel services. A Level 1 storm is described as one in which “roadways are hazardous with blowing and/or drifting snow, freezing rain and/or sleet. Roads may be icy. Drive very cautiously.”

  2. If the forecasted winter storm is designated as a Level 2 storm by the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, Northside Baptist Church will cancel all regularly scheduled services. A Level 2 storm is described as one in which “roadways are hazardous with blowing and/or drifting snow, freezing rain, sleet and/or ice build-up, possibly covered with snow. Only those who feel it is necessary to drive should be out on the roadways.”

  3. If the forecasted winter storm is designated as a Level 3 storm by the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, Northside Baptist Church will cancel all regularly scheduled services. A Level 3 storm is described as one in which “all roadways are closed to non-emergency personnel.  No one should be out during these conditions unless it is absolutely necessary to travel.”

  4. Notifications of any delays or cancellations decided by church leadership will be communicated via email, social media, phone calls, etc. a minimum of two hours before regularly scheduled services. For example, if a one-hour delay is implemented for Sunday morning services, the delay will be communicated no later than 8:00am on Sunday morning.
